Volunteering has always been a cornerstone of Lisa’s life, allowing her to give back to the community. Over the years, she has dedicated herself to various organizations, each offering unique opportunities to make a positive impact.
Below are some of the causes and initiatives she is most engaged with.
For the past four years, Lisa has been an active member of the Rotary Club, serving on the board of directors and as the chair of the youth services department. Her primary focus has been working with the Interact Club at the local high school, where they organize service projects such as the Focameter Project, restoring glasses to provide to the underprivileged in Rosarito, Mexico. In addition, she organizes and run “Movies in the Park” each summer, bringing families together for evenings of entertainment and community bonding. Additionally, she coordinate s participation in their High School Speech, Music, and Essay Contests, fostering the talents and skills of young individuals.
As the Secretary on the board of directors for Claremont Meals on Wheels, Lisa manages the donor database, assist with correspondence, and keep meeting minutes. Her involvement extends beyond administrative duties; for the past seven years, she has delivered meals to clients in Claremont every other week. This experience is particularly special as she began delivering meals with her daughter before she started school. Together, they have formed meaningful connections with the recipients. Each Christmas, she also organizes and distributes gifts to all their clients.
In her role with the LA Medical Mission, Lisa travels to rural regions of Guatemala, where their group sets up a hospital for one week to provide essential medical and dental care, including surgeries. Despite not having a medical background, she contributes by assisting in the pharmacy, clinic, dentistry, and sterilizing surgical equipment. The ten-day mission, undertaken at their own expense, is a humbling and eye-opening experience that underscores the importance of accessible healthcare.
With Fruitfully Yours, Lisa and her family participate in harvesting excess fruit from local trees, which is then donated to the Shepherd’s Pantry. She also coordinates a portion of the crop to be donated to Claremont Meals on Wheels, ensuring their clients receive fresh fruit with their meals. This initiative not only reduces food waste but also supports the health and well-being of their community members.
As a board member of the Glendora Coordinating Council, Lisa collaborates with other service organizations in the city to plan and organize events and calendars. This role allows her to contribute to a unified effort in addressing community needs and fostering a spirit of cooperation among various groups.
For the past five years, Lisa has organized and coordinated the assembly of 125 Thanksgiving Baskets with the help of family, friends, and children. Each family donates items for the baskets, and businesses like Kars-R-Us contribute $25 gift cards for each basket. The assembly process is a collaborative effort that takes place at my home, where children and adults work together to create these thoughtful gifts, which are then delivered to the Shepherd’s Pantry.
In 2023, Lisa was honored to become one of the first councilwomen for Global Remarketing Opportunities for Women, an organization dedicated to empowering women in the remarketing industry. As chair of the events committee, she played a pivotal role in organizing an auction at their conference, which raised funds to provide ten scholarships for remarketers to become CAR or ACT certified. This initiative has been instrumental in advancing the careers of women in the industry.
Lisa's dedication to volunteerism has been recognized with the Glendora Humanitarian Award for 2023. This award is a testament to the impact of her efforts and the importance of community service.
